DANCE
Claudia has worked as a professional ballet and contemporary dancer for over 15 years. Between 2006 and 2016, she danced at Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich, and Hessisches Staatsballett in Wiesbaden/Darmstadt.
As a freelance artist, she was a founding member of Richard Siegal's company, B.O.D., and a member of Marguerite Donlon's D.D.C. She is a guest performer at Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal and at the theater of the City of Cologne, Schauspiel Köln. Her repertoire includes pieces and creations by Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Hans Van Manen, John Neumeier, John Cranko, Richard Siegal, Russel Maliphant, Saar Magal, Marguerite Donlon, Itzik Galili, Alexander Ekman, Wim Vandekeybus, and Pina Bausch.
THEATER
As a guest performer at the theater of the city of Cologne, Schauspiel Köln, Claudia performed in theater plays such as: "Medea" directed by Robert Borgmann; "Love Me More", based on The Picture of Dorian Grey and directed by Saar Magal; and "Roughhouse" a crossover dance-theater performance directed by Richard Siegal. In 2021, she joined Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal as a guest artist, joining the ensemble for Pina Bausch's "Kontakthof", a masterpiece of German dance theater. In 2022, she was part of the cast of the film "Romance", directed by Samantha Shay, as a collaborator and performer. The short film, a screen adaptation of Miranda July's short story "It was Romance", premiered at Cinedans in Amsterdam in March 2023.
CHOREOGRAPHY
As a creator and movement director, Claudia's interest is interdisciplinary, often working with non-dancers and artists of varying disciplines. She has an intuitive style of creating and focuses on helping others find authenticity in their movement. Some of her choreographic work for film includes the short-animated film Vernunft und Triebe, directed by Bennet Meyer, the choreography and movement direction for the music video “Patience” from singer-songwriter Mogli. Stage pieces include: the “Puerto Rico Project” in collaboration with the Niederrhein Musikfestival, where Claudia choreographed and performed several Puerto Rican boleros and danzas; “Pietra” comissioned for the Tuscan quarry Saturnia Travertini; and the dance choreography for “Moliere. Macht. Melatonin” and "G wie Grüne Armee Fraktion", theater pieces directed by Janosch Roloff for nö theater. Her most recent work the solo "Revuelta / el agua se ha revuelto y no veo el fondo", was comissioned in 2023 by the Max Ernst Museum des LVR in Brühl Germany within the context of the exhibition "Image. Max Ernst in Photographs".
CURATION
She has a BA in Art History from the University of Puerto Rico and is completing an MA in Arts and Cultural Management at Leuphana University, focusing her research on developing strategies for the diversification of ballet companies. Her first curatorial work, "Body Tale", was a collaboration between the Kolumba museum, Tanz Köln and Ballet of Difference at Schauspiel Köln.
